A polyglot (English, Japanese, French, and Greek) with a scientific background.
After graduating from the University of Kent (Canterbury) with an honors degree in Chemistry in 1991, Mr. Hyman spent the better part of a year trekking through Nepal, India and Thailand before arriving in Japan. After working in a translation agency for four years, he left to start his own company to specialize in high-quality Japanese to English translations. As President and CEO of Hyman Translations, he keeps himself abreast of the latest developments in a myriad of technical and legal fields in addition to his core competencies, chemistry and IT.
He served on the board of directors of the Japan Association of Translators (JAT) for five consecutive years stepping down as President in 2007. He is an active member in a regional association for business executives and constantly works to maintain Hyman Translations' position as a chosen provider of language services in Japan and beyond.
Since starting Hyman Consulting Incorporated in Qingdao, China, Mr. Hyman has been spending an increasing amount of his time in the People's Republic of China.

Japan Association of Translators

Founded in 1985, the Japan Association of Translators (JAT) is an organization of translators whose work involves Japanese. All the members are individual translators. JAT promotes the exchange of information between members, and the hosts activities to improve the industry in general.
Mr. Hyman served on the Board of Directors for five years from 2002 to 2007.

Association of Small Business Entrepreneurs

Established in 1973, this association of business executives from more than 40,000 companies holds lectures, conferences and other events to help its members become better employers, build better companies, and develop a better business environment.

IEEE

With more than 300,000 members worldwide, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has been promoting the exchange of information and technology since its foundation in 1884.
